Living in Monaco, I watch F1 come alive months before race day. The marketing build-up, barricades, and streets transform into a world-class circuit. Tate McRae's music video captured the anticipation and spectacle from start to finish perfectly.

Visual Energy

The video begins with an energetic glitching title in F1’s bold font, evoking the electric countdown before lights out. Quick flashes of traffic lights, pedals, and close-ups of Tate set a racing pulse from the first frame.

Choreography & Song Integration

The song’s pace mirrors a race’s intensity – with pedalling, treadmill steps, and her signature finger dance from eyes outward, visually echoing 'Keep Watching.' There’s a striking moment where she balances her arms inside a tire, moving as if working out, referencing drivers’ rigorous training regimes.

Symbolism in Movement

Mini treadmill: Represents drivers’ pre-race grind and preparation.

Gym bike: Tate’s arched position mimics Monaco’s sharp street circuit turns, embodying the route drivers memorise lap after lap.

Visual Motifs & Colour Palette

The recurring “keep watching” motif commands attention to her and the race itself, reinforced by F1’s monochrome aesthetic of sleek black, white, and metallics, evoking cars, asphalt, and speed.

Overall

Tate becomes both spectator and race. Her movements, the glitching typography, and synchronised editing embody Formula 1’s relentless pace, precision, and global allure, leaving viewers captivated – as if they’re waiting for the race to begin.
